Ashland resident Joanne McMahan is on the committee that is planning the third annual ?Gala for a Cure,? which benefits the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
The gala is on Saturday, March 3, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel.
Emceed by renowned Boston comedian Steve Sweeney, this delightful evening of dining and dancing will feature the music of Sweet Tooth and the Sugarbabies. The event will also include both silent and live auctions, with auctioneer extraordinaire Dan Flynn presiding over the latter, promising to make the event even more memorable.
The innovative treatments arising from the cutting-edge research funded by events like the ?Gala for a Cure? have saved thousands of lives and made a bright future a reality for the more than 1 million individuals currently living with a blood cancer.
However, there still is a long way to go. Every five minutes someone receives a blood cancer diagnosis, and every 10 minutes someone dies. The Leukemia Lymphoma Society?s three research grant programs cover the full range of academic biomedical studies, from basic laboratory science to clinical trials of new agents.
